At first glance, the moon is much smaller than the sun. In fact, the sun is 400 times larger… but it is also about 400 times farther away.
That is why, when they align in an eclipse, the moon manages to cover it completely.
The sun, all-powerful, is covered by a dark disc that does not shine by itself, but has the power to hide its light.
This is exactly what happens so many times in practice: personality, with its fears, its defences, its learned stories, manages to eclipse the soul.
And this metaphor of the sun and the moon is the one I use to explain it.
And although the soul is still there, like the sun behind the moon, its light does not reach us. It cannot be seen. It cannot be felt. The patient says: “I don’t know who I am”, “life goes by and I am lost”.
But the soul has not disappeared. It is only covered, and we have to work on it.
As a therapist, I cannot force the moon to move.
But I can accompany until the movement happens.
Sometimes it is a small shift in the alignment: a felt emotion, an image, a memory, a scar, a tear. And then it happens: the light returns.
And there is the soul. It was always there. Like the sun, burning at its centre, waiting for the path to clear.
I could not love this work of discovering your soul more.
